Pagudpud

Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte on the northern shore of the main island of Luzon, Philippines is the place to be if you love the beach minus the crowd. Its white sand, pristine beaches and crystal blue waters are the reasons for tagging this place as “Boracay” of the north. It is said to have the longest contiguous white sand with mighty waves and strong winds in the Philippines, making it another haven for surfers.

But Pagudpud is not only about the beach, this coastal town, which was formerly a part of its neighboring town of Bangui, greets its visitors with its beautiful sceneries and serene atmosphere, thus slowly making its own niche in the tourism map of the Philippines. Stop in Patapat Viaduct, trek to Kabigan Falls, swim in Blue Lagoon, surf the waves, watch the picturesque sunset and experience the hospitality of its people.

Truly, Pagudpud promises everyone an unforgettable experience in this secluded paradise.

How to Get There:

By Land

Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific fly to Laoag from Manila, travel time is an hour more or less. From Laoag, jeepney and buses bound to Cagayan pass through Pagudpud.

Where to Stay:

Inexpensive resorts are located along the shores of Pagudpud, they offer cottage rental for as low as P500.00 (~$12.50) or even cheaper. But Lakwatsero recommends Saud Beach. If you are staying in Saud, try Polaris Beach Resort, it is in the same shoreline as the famous Saud Beach Resort but the rates are cheaper and the staffs are warm and hospitable. Hotel Accomodation at Polaris can go for as low as P1000.00/room during off peak, good for three to four persons. Contact number is 09193078803.

To go to Saud Beach, go to Baduang Market then take a Traysi to Saud.

  3. We’ve been to Pagudpud last Oct 2007. And its true that its expensive in Saud, we only had our lunch there.. As to the transpo papuntang beach area, pwding pakiusapan ang bus driver na ideretso kau beach. That’s what we did - no extra charge.. Just use some charm. Hehe..

  4. how much is the budget if i like to go to pagudpud this coming july2008?

It depends actually on your itinerary (no of days, transpo type, preferred accomodation, etc. But I can survive for P5000-P6000 for a 3days/2nights in Pagudpud by land

  6. hi.. i want to treat my boyfriend in Pagudpud for our first anniversary on Oct. 18 this year. i want it to be different so i want to be here instead of boracay. i am planning of a 3-day 2-night stay there. of course, i dont know anything about the place so where would be the best place to stay there like cottages or hotels??? and how much wud it cost me? because i also want to try the activities they have there in Pagudpud. =) thanks a lot.. =)

Hi Cindy, you’ll find a lot of hotels/accomodation in Saud Beach, you may opt to stay in Saud Hotel/Resort which is quite expensive or to its neighboring Polaris Hotel which is cheaper yet with decent and good facilities and rooms, they share the same shoreline. Personally, I prefer Polaris :D The room rate is as low as P1000 per night on lean season, and October falls on lean season. Then you may ask Polaris to arrange a tour of Pagudpud for you. Don’t miss the Blue Lagoon and the waterfalls! Enjoy and happy anniversary :D

  7. hey.. sorry for being “makulit”.. hehe.. i also wud like to know how much will the fare be if we’ll take an airplane from here,in Manila, to Pagudpud. will the plane take us directly to Pagudpud or we still need to, like ride once more.. how will the transportation be if we’ll take a plane? thanks a lot.. =)

There is no airport in Pagudpud, the nearest is in Laoag, around two hours via jeep/bus to Pagudpud. The cheapest round trip (limited seat) via PAL is around P3400+ inclusive of all the taxes. If you will avail of PAL promo like their current buy-one-take-one, you’ll get half the price. Cebu Pacific year round cheap fare is more or less P3000+. Both PAL and Cebu Pacific fly to Laoag.

  8. hi..im planning to spend my bithday at pagudpud dis coming sept..how much wud it cost me kaya kung uhmnn let’s say 6 kming pupunta?plan ko sana sa polaris din mag stay eh..and mga ilang hours from dagupan to pagudpud?ung rates ba nila sa rooms per pax un?

  9. my mga night activities din ba dun?i mean bars, disco?and uhmnn 3days 2nyts sana ung vacation eh..hehe tnx..

Hi weng, advance happy birthday! Well, yung rate sa Polaris is per room. Travel time from Dagupan to Pagudpud is approximately 6 hours. Budget wise, hmmm, I think safe na 4k-5K per person for 3D/2N including expenses sa accomodation, transpo, food, tour, pasalubong etc. and etc. Pagudpud is the opposite of Boracay or Puerto Galera, no nightlife! :D

From Tuguegarao, just follow the buses heading to Abra/Ilocos passing through the main road/highway. You will pass by Alcala, Gattaran, Lal-lo, Ballesteros, Abulug, Pamplona, Sanchez-Mira, Claveria and Sta. Praxedes in Cagayan and the towns of Pansian and Boalo of Ilocos Norte.

  14. hi, we plan to go to pagudgud by air from mla to laoag..then laoag to pagudpud..are bus terminals going to pagudpud accessible from the airport? what is the best way to reach pagudgud from the airport?

    thanksee :)

Hi nikki, the airport is in the neighboring town of Laoag City, to get to Pagudpud from the airport you have to go to the bus terminals in the city proper. There are jeepneys and trikes outside the terminal. Take the jeepney to Laoag and ask the driver to get you off the bus terminals that pass through Pagudpud.

  15. my brothers and I along wd our cousins are planning to have a 3days 2nights vacation in pagudpud by air..manila flight will arrive at laoag at past 7pm..we intend to go blue lagoon directly. is it advisable to go past 8pm to saud beach or blue lagoon? from what ive read in so many posts,i think going to blue lagoon will pass thru a small forest which is quite far from the highway..will there be available transport during this time? or wud you recommend that we stay ovrnight in a hotel in laoag?
can you suggest places where we can stay? clean and cheaper..where dyu think is best to stay in pagudpud? along saud beach or blue lagoon?
need to plan this coz some friends coming from abroad will be joining our trip..

    salamat …

Hi mitz, Blue Lagoon is advisable only for day trips since there are no hotels/rooms in this beach, only open cottages. Transportation from Laoag to Pagudpud is limited to around 5PM I think, so by the time you arrive in Laoag, there will be no public transport to Pagudpud anymore, unless you hire a van. If you are willing to hire a van then you can go directly to Saud Beach from the airport where a lot of hotels can be found, otherwise spend the night in Laoag then catch a bus or a jeep the next day to Pagudpud. Saud beach is where tourists normally stay in Pagudpud.

    CORRECTION

There are now a hotels/resorts just a few steps from the Blue Lagoon, Punta Zaul with contach number: #09284822543/#09187829491 and Hannah’s Place at #09206057121

  16. hi ask ko lang kasi pupunta kami ng pagudpud sa sept 3-5…group kami from the office with 1 kid(2 yrs old), yung flight kasi namin gabi. around 7:30 pm kami arrive ng laoag..wala na ba kami masasakyan kasi wala kaming na hire na van..may alam ka bang van na makukuha and how much?

Hi haze, where exactly are you staying in Pagudpud? Though there are vans outside the airport, but to BE SURE, I suggest you arrange the transfer from the airport to Pagudpud with your hotel. You may also try contacting #09184609492 if you can arrange Laoag Airport to Pagudpud transfer since thay have Ilocos Norte tour, though I haven’t personally know the owner.

  17. Hi! arrival namen sa laoag airport is 730pm too..merun pbang jeep going to the pagudpud bus terminal during that time? what do you suggest? Or do you know any cheap decent accomodation in laoag city? kxe kung wala ng transpo..its better to spend the nyt in laoag and in the morning a lil citytour and go to pagudpud afterwards…will that work? =)

Hi Ducati, sad to say, there are no more buses/jeepneys to Pagudpud by that time. Your idea sounds good, better spend the night in Laoag, and have a halfday city tour the next morning, before going to Pagudpud. For cheap yet decent accommodation, notable are: Tiffany Hotel, Texicano Hotel and Parklane Hotel.

Please visit this site for the list of hotels and their contact numbers: http://www.inttic.com/tourism/sangbayan_ti_ilocos/hotels.htm

    Enjoy!

  19. Hi, thanks for sharing. I just want to know whether paying 6k for the 2-way hotel transfer to northbridge-airport, vise versa, plus tour in laoag is reasonable price for renting a van. we will be arriving end of the month (7 of us) and we dont have any idea regarding the van rental. thanks a lot for ur help.

Considering the convenience of having a round-trip transport, without a hassle of missing the bus, plus the added tour of laoag, 6K seems reasonable. But of course, try to haggle for cheaper rate, you are in the Philippines eh, hehe!.

  20. hello, may i know your contact number for the van rental? we’re also looking for a van to rent for our hotel transfer as well as tour. thanks!

  21. hi guys :) im planning to go in pagudpud on the 2nd week of january of 2009. i’d like to ask where is the best place to stay there? and what bus company to ride in going there? we are planning to leave on a sat night and be back in Manila on a Monday morning :) thanks thanks!!

Hi there! I’m sure everybody who have been to Polaris Resort in Saud Beach (Contact # 09193078803) will recommend the place. Cheaper rates, accomodating staff and a great location. For the bus company, Florida Bus Line in Sampaloc, Manila has a direct to Pagudpud route.

  23. Hi, we are going to pagudpud this coming december. May I ask kung meron kayong alam na pwedeng i-rent na van para libutin ang pagudpud? We are five so mahirap cguro if we will take a tricycyle..right?

Try contacting Kuya Vince at 09282738266 for a van. It’s at P3000-P4500 for a whole day tour, depending on the sites. Quite pricey so makipaghaggle pa kayo. Otherwise, rent two trike :-P
