Three years ago, I dreamed of documenting my travels in stills and narratives. I started www.lakwatsero.com.

From a personal blog I started in 2006, I shifted to travel niche in 2008. From then the lakwatsero in me didn’t stop. I went to different places, explored off the beaten tracks, dive unspoiled and popular dive sites, discover hidden beaches, and shared most of it through this blog.

Through these years, you were with me. Your visits, comments, recommendations, referrals, likes and feedback fuel me to go on and continue my journey. You all inspired me!

To return to my heartfelt thanks to all of you, I will be holding an online contest where you can win a round trip ticket to any Airphil Express’ destinations and other prizes. Read the contest mechanics on how you can join and possibly win.

Contest Mechanics:

  1. The contest is open to everyone.
  2. To participate, just simply tell us your hometown (or any place you love or consider as hometown) and any interesting spot, event, food that can be found there.
  3. Follow the Official Lakwatsero Facebook Page (http://www.facebook.com/theLakwatsero) and Twitter Account (http://www.twitter.com/theLakwatsero) to join thru Facebook and Twitter
  4. There are three ways to submit an entry:
    • By commenting on this post
      Example: I consider Sagada as my hometown. My favorite restaurant there is Yoghurt House.
    • By posting in Lakwatsero Facebook Page
      Example: Hi Lakwatsero, my hometown is Palompon, Leyte. Kalanggaman Island is loacated there
    • By tagging Lakwatsero on Twitter
      Example: @theLakwatsero my hometown is Manila. See Paco Church and Cemetery when you are there.
  5. Only one entry can be submitted for every media (one each for Lakwatsero Blog, Facebook Page and Twitter Account)
  6. Everyone can have a maximum of three entries by submitting on three different media.
  7. Submission of entries is from March 25, 2011 0001H to March 31, 2011 2359H.
  8. Valid entries will be electronically raffled using Random.Org.
  9. Winners will be announced on April 1, 2011
  10. Winners will be contacted thru email or Facebook and twitter direct messaging
  11. Lakwatsero has the right to disqualify any entry.
  12. Lakwatsero has the right to add more prizes and winners
  13. Prizes include:
    • Major: One (1) Round Trip ticket to any Airphil Express Domestic Destination (Travel Period June 2011 to October 2011)
    • Major: One (1) Seri Asia Spa Package Set
    • Minor: Gift Certificates and more

P.S. I will collate all submitted entries and make a post out of it. I will try my best to visit all the places mentioned and do/try/taste/visit the recommendations 🙂

    my hometown is bogo city, cebu. the place is famous for its pintos (suman with corn as the main ingredient). Capitancillo Island is also worth visiting with its divespot and beach.

    Puraran Beach is located there, top surfing location in the world.

      Nasa wish list ko iyan. We will go there by July pero stopover lang going to Caramoan, I hope I can explore Catanduanes soon:)

  8. My hometown is Nueva Ecija the well known Rice Granary of the Philippines, see and experience the cool water in Dupinga River in Gabaldon.

  9. I proud to say I’m from the province of Bikol, Camarines Sur. Every September we celebrate Penafrancia Festival which is very popular to Filipinos and would go all the way to bikol via 10hours drive from Manila or simply by plane. “Buya” is very popular wherein all walks of life(the buyadores) comes into the Basilica Church carry our beloved Penafrancia in 12 kilometer walk with barefoot and transfer it to another (The Cathedral) church. We also have the most popular wakeboarding park CWC. and you can also indulge yourself to Pili nuts, suman and the very popular dish with sili The “Bikol express”..which bikol is very famous of… and wait not just that, A 1-hour and 30m mins drive from Naga to Legazpi you’ll find Mayon Volcano. My province is full pack of every traveller can find.

    I hail from Victorias City, Negros Occidental, where the bright Kadalag-an Festival is being celebrated. I suggest you go visit the Gawahon Falls if you happen to drop by my hometown.

    I consider Siargao Island as my home town..!! THis is the so called Surfer’s haven and also you could find there Suhoton Cave where it has the famous BLue Lagoon!

    1. Wow! I love Sohoton! I love playing with the millions of non-stinging jellyfish in Tojoman Lagoon. Bucas grande is a great place to bum in the beach and snorkel 🙂

    I’ve been in Manila for 4 years now. My hometown is Makilala, North Cotabato. I missed my so loved LE REVE RESORT found in Kisante, Makilala. The cool weather even during summer season, and the non-man-made forest adorn with all natural resources so perfect for summer! The assorted fresh fruits and vegetables are only food I could ever wish to have plenty of when I plan a visit there!

    Commune with nature in Los Baños, Laguna. Relax with its natural hotsprings, climb Mt. Makiling’s Peak 2 to experience the mossy forest, visit the Flatrocks and Mudspring. Have a close encounter with wildlife, bird-watching, taste the famous buko pie in town and drink fresh milk which I guarantee you the best! This summer is a very good time to go check out Los Baños’ great offerings!

    1. I used to frequent Los Banos! I love D’Original’s Buko pie and the very affordable Mel Nel’s Cnocolate cakes 🙂

  14. Cavite is my hometown. I was born in Kawit, Cavite, and if ever you drop by Cavite you should try Hidden Tapsihan’s oh-so famous Tapsilog (in Wakas), and then MacDards Combo Tapsilog, tapsilog with chicharong bulaklak (in Bacao), and drop by Aguinaldo Shrine and take photos of Noveleta’s irasan (asinan). 🙂

    My hometown is Pandan, Tubigon, Bohol. Around us you will the beautiful beaches with beauty comparable to international beaches. You also would like to see the magnificent array of Chocolate Hills and the very cute Tarsier. My favorite food here is what we call “Adobo” but it’s not really adobo, it is partially cooked pork meat that is good for making Adobo. 🙂

  16. I’m a proud Antipolenio.. When I travel, I always say my prayers and ask for a safe trip to Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage (Nuestra Senora Dela Paz y Buenviaje).. Visit the Antipolo Cathedral and you can also indulge yourself to cashew nuts and suman – which Antipolo is very famous of…

    I consider Luisiana, Laguna as my hometown. It is a relatively unknown town of Laguna, but I like it because of it’s cool weather, thus earning the moniker “Little Baguio of Laguna”. A yummy food unique to that place is the Llanera, a meat dish cooked in a llanera similar to the leche flan.

  19. I live in Quezon City now but I consider Intramuros as my “hometown” after spending a lot of years there studying.
    I consider the Walled City my sanctuary and go there as often as I possibly can.
    Circumnavigating it’s historic walls from Letran to the Comelec office can be very relaxing… and healthy too hehe.
    After all that walking, spending some quiet time inside Manila Cathedral or San Agustin(if it’s open)is a welcome respite.

    I love my current place of residence – Los Baños, Laguna: as a student of UPLB, I say, this place is a delicious mix of heaven (for the tranquility Mt. Makiling and it’s biodiversity brings to almost everyone visiting her) and hell (acads). 🙂
