In my younger years, the old Ninoy Aquino International Airport, now referred as NAIA Terminal 1, was a popular landmark, a Filipino pride, an architectural masterpiece, one of the newest and modern in Asia. It was designed by no less than National Artist Leandro Locsin, a renowned Filipino architect, artist, and interior designer. Metro Manila [nggallery id=23 template=galleryview images=0] While on a night ride in and around the Metropolis, I was utterly awed by the bright lights along my route. The lighted trees of Plaza Roma, in front Manila Cathedral, Intramuros Manila; the beautifully designed Cultural Center of the Philippines in Pasay City; the lovely and picturesque skyline of Rockwell in Makati City; and the lively streets of Policarpio in Mandaluyong.
