The Amphitheater Rice Terraces of Batad

Batad, Banaue, Ifugao

Merriam defines amphitheater as “an oval or circular structure with rising tiers of seats ranged about an open space and used in ancient Rome especially for contests and spectacles”. Well Batad Rice Terraces does looks like an amphitheater!

The Rice Terraces of Batad in Banaue Ifugao, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, undoubtedly is the most beautiful of all the rice terraces in Banaue or even in the entire Cordillera.

It was a long time dream to see it with my very own eyes and I finally fulfilled that dream when we went there with our bikes. The best of it all, we trekked all the way to the Awa Viewdeck for two hours to witness the bird’s-eye view of this magnificent man-made wonder.

Truly amazing!
