As destinations start to open up in the time of COVID-19, different travel requirements are being asked. Some require an RT-PCR or Antigen Test while others do not. Truth is, the cost of COVID-19 testing is still high in the Philippines. So where to avail of free or cheap RT-PCR or Antigen test in Metro Manila is always a question.
The numbers of COVID-19 positive individuals and the positivity rate are increasing at alarming rate in Metro Manila. As a result, NCR along with Bulacan, Cavite and Rizal are placed under Alert Level 3. With the another surge of infections, Baguio and Boracay has just revised their travel requirements. Both now require negative test result for COVID-19 and more destinations are expected to follow suit.
Baguio now requires tourists from Alert Level 3 locations to present a negative RT-PCR test result taken within seventy-two (72) hours prior to arrival; or a negative Antigen Test Result taken within 24 hours prior to arrival (except for children 11 years old and below). Meanwhile, Boracay only accepts negative RT-PCR (NPS/OPS or Saliva) test result from any DOH-accredited laboratories taken within seventy-two (72) hours.
Thankfully, the Department of Tourism (DOT) through its official marketing arm Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) is offering FREE swab test in Philippine Children’s Medical Center (PCMC). However, if you can’t make it to the PCMC in Quezon City, you can book your RT-PCR or Antigen Test at cheaper prices via Klook. You may book and avail of discounted rates below:
