The Rice Terraces of Kilong, Tetep-an and Antadao

Kiltepan Viewpoint, Sagada, Mountain Province

These past few months, we saw the influx of tourists in Sagada, particularly in Kiltepan Viewpoint. Thanks (or no thanks) to that famed movie that showcased this spot, one of my favorites in town.

Situated on the eastern Sagada, around three and a half kilometers from the town center, Kiltepan Viewpoint is famed for the amazing view of sunrise over the sea of clouds in Sagada. It is among the highest points in town, overlooking the villages of Kilong, Tetep-an and Antadao, thus Kiltepan.

Before it was used as a movie location and the influx of crowd, Kiltepan was one of the spots in Sagada where you can commune with nature and with yourself. I used to go there before sunrise and during a late afternoon leisurely walk and in one of those numerous visits, I happen to photographed it in all green.

Kiltepan is fascinating. It is fascinating not only during sunrise but any time of the day. Truth is, I am longing for the day when I can sit again at the edge of the cliff on my own and in the silence of everything, letting the seconds, minutes and even hours to pass just staring below me and doing nothing. The moment was so divine, it makes me feel I am alive and worthy.

A lot has changed in Kiltepan but despite the turn of its fate, it is still one of my favorite spots in Sagada.
