PAL Express

To meet the increasing demand of the traveling public for a high-quality carrier offering low fares, Philippine Airlines is launching a new, low-fares unit that will operate a fleet of turbo propeller aircraft to mostly domestic island points under the name “PAL Express”.
PAL’s move will help boost trade and tourism, particularly to our smaller and farther islands, thus providing a much-needed lift to the local economy of these communities.
PAL will acquire nine turbo-props –three Bombardier Q300s and six Q400s – to comprise PAL Express’ initial fleet, which will be based, mainly in Cebu. Some flights will also operate out of Manila. PAL Express will primarily fly intra-regional routes in Visayas and Mindanao from its Cebu hub, as well as secondary routes to smaller airports in island provinces that are not able to accommodate PAL’s regular jet aircraft.
PAL Express is scheduled to take off on May 5, 2008 with eight flights daily between Manila and Boracay. Services ramp up dramatically on May 19, when PAL Express’ Cebu-hub operations commence with flights between Cebu and five points in Visayas and Mindanao. To introduce these new services, PAL Express is offering a promotional fare of P88 (excluding taxes and surcharges) for one-way flights between Cebu and Bacolod, Caticlan, Tacloban, Butuan and General Santos.
The special fare can be availed of until May 18, 2008 and is for travel from May 19 to August 15, 2008 only. For booking you may go to their site: www.palexpressair.com.

Leyte, Samar open more doors to commercial flights
By MELANIE BINGCO
ABS-CBN Tacloban
TACLOBAN CITY – After the successful maiden flight to Calbayog City Airport on July 15 graced by President Arroyo herself, PAL Express is soon to open commercial flights in three other airports in Eastern Visayas.
Airports in Ormoc and Borongan cities, as well as one in Catarman in Northern Samar, will be opened within this year to commercial flights to and from Manila.
The budget carrier PAL Express, a subsidiary of flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL), will have its inaguaral flight on the first day of August at Catarman airport. Ormoc will follow on August 15.
However, problems such as the lack of crash fire trucks and other airport facilities in Ormoc were noted by PAL.
“Of course we need the crash fire truck in case of emergency. Also the airport terminal in Ormoc needs improvement,” said PAL area manager Glenn Vallecera.
Merla Negradas of the Air Transportation Office (ATO) branch office said they already have planned out actions to solve the problems and various other improvement needed by Ormoc Airport so that it could effectively host commercial flights.
Borongan airport is also set to open for PAL planes this September.
Negradas said having some more flights bound for Manila in three other key areas in the region will boost the economic, industrial and tourism activities of these places.
The three airports mentioned were formerly identified as non-functioning terminals in the region.

on air traffic division.. so far so good at lest may sched na kong kelan magsisimula mag operate.. problem is walang air traffic service facilities sa atin… when 2 airlines operates in an airport a tower or traffic advisory is needed to max the safety… so far wala pa tayo nun.. may nakikita kayong tower cab sa airport bot i’ll bet 1yr of my salary walang personnel jan… asian spirit(pilot) lands at catarman and calbayog without information of the runway condition… ex, rain, wind speed. adn wind direction, and thats what happened in catarman, the runway is wet and the plane supposed to land against the wind and IT land with the wind, thats the cause why it overshot at catarman airport. ,.. this is all politics… akala lang natin na pag may plane ok na….pag di nagkaroon ng air traffic facility sa atin, airlines wil back-out… WAKE-UP PEOPLE!!! hello topdog, the surcharge fee depends on the destinations, the additional tax depends on the 12% VAT for the route fare.
Any estimate on how much the additional taxes and surcharge would be? Thanks.
